迴歸分析究竟能不能提供因果解釋？

問題：大多數迴歸分析所呈現的，明明是變數之間的關聯（ex.在其他條件相同的情況下兩變數之間的共變關係），為什麼經常直接被說成是「因果關係」？這些說法裡面的「因果關係」究竟是指什麼？在什麼樣的前提條件下，宣稱「證明這兩個變數具有因果關係」是有合理的依據的？
